WHY HOMELESSNESS:

Everyone should have access to affordable, stable housing and the resources, knowledge and support necessary to maintain their housing needs. When families have the tools and education to manage their finances, they are more likely to succeed.

United Way of Superior-Douglas County’s vision for the future:
Families and individuals have stable housing and available resources, knowledge and support necessary to effectively maintain their housing needs.

Strategies for Success

  • Encourage programs which create stable living situations for families and individuals
  • Increase access to community resources which provide more affordable housing options
  • Explore and encourage financial education so that individuals manage their finances more wisely
  • Prevent families and individuals from becoming homeless

Goals for our Community

  • More low and medium income residents have and maintain affordable accessible housing
  • People who do not have access to permanent housing have access to temporary shelter
  • People have the financial literacy necessary to better meet basic needs with limited resources
  • Reduce the number of school age children who are homeless
Reach out a hand to one, influence the condition of all.
